LHU Trade Union reaffirms its role and strengthens solidarity in the new term

On the morning of November 27, 2025, the Grassroots Trade Union of LHU successfully held the 8th Trade Union Congress for the 2025–2030 term and the 2025–2026 Employees’ Conference, marking a key milestone in reviewing the achievements of 2023–2025 and setting strategic directions for a democratic, progressive, and sustainable working environment.

The Congress was honored to welcome Mr. Nguyen Ngoc An – Member of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Education and Training, Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and Chairman of the Vietnam Education Trade Union; and Mr. Ho Nhu Duyen – Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Education Trade Union and Deputy Head of MOET’s Southern Representative Office. From LHU, participants included Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Lan – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Rector; Mr. Lam Thanh Hien – Rector; Mr. Diep Cam Thu and Ms. Le Thi Thu Huong – Former Chairpersons of the LHU Trade Union; Mr. Dang Dai Hung – Chairman of the LHU Trade Union; along with 139 delegates representing more than 500 staff members, lecturers, and employees.

At the event, Mr. Dang Dai Hung, Chairman of the LHU Trade Union for the 2023–2025 term, presented a video summarizing the key activities of the previous term, while outlining the directions and tasks for the 8th Trade Union term (2025–2030). During the past term, with strong support from the Vietnam Education Trade Union, the University’s Party Committee, the Board of Rectors, and the coordinated efforts of departments, centers, and faculties, along with the dedication of trade union officials, the LHU Trade Union successfully fulfilled its mission, ensuring the material and spiritual well-being of its members.

With 100% approval votes, Mr. Dang Dai Hung was re-elected as Chairman of the LHU Trade Union for the 2025–2030 term. The new Executive Committee consists of 11 members.

The Congress taking place in a solemn and highly focused atmosphere

As part of the event, the Employees’ Conference continued to promote grassroots democracy in accordance with Decree 59/2023/NĐ-CP. Over the past year, the LHU Trade Union has effectively fulfilled its representative role, caring for and supporting employees. It has also actively monitored policy implementation, safeguarded employee welfare, and fostered a stable and safe working environment. Numerous emulation movements on labor and innovation have been widely promoted, making significant contributions to training quality, research, and staff development.

At the conference, representatives of the employer and the Trade Union Executive Committee held a direct dialogue, fostering democratic exchange within the legal framework. Notably, the signing ceremony of the 2025–2026 Collective Labor Agreement officially took place, demonstrating a unified commitment to the rights and obligations of employees as prescribed in the legal document.

The 8th Trade Union Congress of LHU and the Employees’ Conference concluded with a strong consensus, reflecting the determination of employees to build a modern, robust trade union aligned with the University’s development in the new phase.
