LHU students turn AI into a powerful tool to win over employers

On the morning of May 5, 2025, LHU successfully held the workshop “Applying AI in creating a professional CV”, attracting a large number of students. This event kicks off the series of activities for LHU Career Fair 2025, which combines recruitment and career guidance, contributing to LHU's commitment to supporting students in finding jobs after graduation.

Representing LHU at the workshop were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh — Vice Rector; Dr. Nguyen Van Trung — Director of the Center of Admissions and Public Relations, and Head of the Organizing Committee; and MPharm. Ngo Dinh Hoang Diem — Deputy Head of the Office of Educational Testing and Quality Assurance, who was also a speaker at the event.

The event also welcomed representatives from enterprises, including Mr. Huynh Trung Thang – Training Director at Life Skill Education; Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc – Head of Human Resources at KEESON Binh Phuoc Co., Ltd.; and Ms. Le Thi Quynh Trang – HR Team Leader at Amata City Bien Hoa Joint Stock Company.

A CV is not just a collection of personal information; it is the "first ticket" to approach potential employers. With AI, today's students can access smart tools like ChatGPT, Teal, and Resume.io that suggest structures, refine wording, and personalize CV content for different industries. In her presentation, Ms Diem emphasized that “AI cannot replace human thinking, but it can help students save time and optimize how they present their abilities and personality".

Applying AI to CV writing aligns with current trends, offering students a competitive edge in today's ever-changing job market. Instead of crafting CVs manually and without direction, students can upgrade themselves right from the first step - making a strong first impression.

Despite its modern advantages, AI is just a tool. If students rely on it too heavily, copy content mechanically, or lack understanding, the result will be generic - lacking personality and depth. A great CV tells a unique story and conveys the writer’s true value.

Therefore, alongside applying AI, students need to invest time in self-reflection, self-assessment and ask themselves “Who am I and what do I want in my future career?". This was clearly demonstrated during the mock interview sessions with employers at the event. Representatives from KEESON, AMATA Bien Hoa, and Life Skill Education - three sponsors and partners of the event provided students with hands-on experience before the official interview at the LHU Career Fair 2025 (scheduled for May 17, 2025). Through this, the participating companies all agreed soft skills, idea presentation skills, and self-confidence are key factors that no AI-generated CV can replace.

The most notable takeaway from the workshop is not just how to use AI, but the importance of building a professional image as early as possible. Following the event, the University assisted students in taking professional portrait photos for their CVs. This is not just a technical support activity, but also conveys a profound message: seriousness in the smallest details. In an era where every recruiter searches LinkedIn or views the first image on a CV, a clear and polished photo can also become the key to unlocking career opportunities.
